Preparing Your Institution for a Photogrammetry Shoot
Preparing for your photogrammetry shoot
Our primary way of scanning your business is by a technique called photogrammetry, which uses a series of camera shots to reconstruct items and/or areas. Photogrammetry is an art; composition of a scene and focus of what we are scanning is essential and ultimately best represents what you, the customer, are trying to say with your business. The more preparation made for the shoot the less time spent modeling in post production and the more we can do with the scene as a finished product.
Paperwork, paperwork
We've designed our onboarding process with simplicity in mind and questions tailored specifically to your project - sometimes we send questionnaires in multiple waves depending on the complexity of the shoot. If you do spend time in this area, please know it's time well spent! These documents are one of the touchstones of a successful reconstruction.
Set the stage
We can scan a complex room in as little as 30 minutes, but we can also spend 4 hours in that same room if given the chance.
It may take us 15 camera shots for one item of a certain size and 300 shots for another item of the same size. Photogrammetry is weird [and exciting!] that way.

Roll with it
We will always be respective of the time you can commit to us on the day of the shoot. For some clients, that may be all day, for others, it may be only a few minutes in a given schedule. We can be constrained to the shoot room, or if the shoot provides, we may ask to shoot some extra stuff as we wait for a draft to compile.
Our intent is to maximize every minute we spend on site - the better idea we have of how much time and how we communicate the more efficient we can be.
